Dr. Vasken Hagopian

Distinguished Research Professor, Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania, 1963

Prof. Hagopian came to Florida State University in January 1970 to teach and work with the experimental high energy physics group. During the past twenty-five years, the research effort has kept up with the highest energy particle accelerators studying the properties of fundamental particles, such as the proton and the neutron.

He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Was a post-doctoral Research Associate (1963-1965) at University of Pennsylvania, Assistant Professor at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Pennsylvania (1965-1969). Discoverer of the first spin 2 elementary particle. Current research is at very high energies which have astrophysics consequences. Teaches both astronomy and physics.
