Atoms and Starlight

Introduction As we noted in the previous lecture, the radiation we receive from space is the source all our information about distant objects . And of all radiations, light is still the principal one with which we view the universe. Our aim today is to learn a little bit about atoms, how they generate light and how we use light to learn something about objects far away.
