The following three items are used or recommended for this course.
Physics: 5th Edition by Douglas Giancoli. This is a required text for College Physics A (PHY2053C) and College Physics B (PHY 2054C). This title is published by Prentice Hall. The materials covered in the lectures are presented in the text. The problems for the weekly assignments are from the end of each chapter.
Study Guide: 5th Edition by Douglas Giancoli. This is a companion book of the text. The guide covers the main topics in the corresponding chapter in the text. There are also worked problems for each chapter. Recommended.
Software Simulations: Prentice Hall offers a software simulation package - "Interactive Journey through Physics" by Cindy Schwarz and Bob Beichner - that covers mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity & magnetism and light & optics. The software has numerous simulations, animations and video segments. It also has MCAT review questions. Runs on both Macintosh and Windows. Recommended for those who like to see visually the affect of each parameter on the outcome.
